Bacterial stalk rot of sunflower is a new disease that has occurred in Northeast China in recent years.It has become more serious year by year, with an average disease rate of 5.47 % in breeding fields and a diseased rate of 46% in fields of inbred lines.

 

♦[Pathogen] 

Bacterial disease caused by 

Erwinia carotovora subsp.carotowora(Jones)Bergey etal; 

E.carotorora subsp.atroseptica(Van Hall)Dye ; 

Pseudomonas caryophylli(Burkholder)Star and Burkholder.


♦[Occurrence Regularity]

The pathogen can live on a wide range of plants,so there are many sources of the pathogen. Every year, the disease starts to occur on sunflower in the middle and late growth stages of sunflower.The pathogen usually invades the plant from natural cracks and wounds.When it is frequently rainy and very humid from mid-August to mid-September,the condition of the disease is serious, while the condition of the disease is mild when the weather is opposite.

♦[Control Method] 

Spray CALIBUR® diluted to 600 times and continuously spray twice in a row with an interval of 7-10 days. If it occurs with Sclerotinia disease, it is recommended to add Dimethachlon or Carbendazim for comprehensive control.

♦[Pathogen] 

Bacterial disease caused by Blackleg variant of the soft rot bacterium of the genus Erwinia.


♦[Occurrence Regularity]

The pathogen survives on diseased plants or remnants of diseased plants, and invades plants from wounds. High temperature, excessively high humidity and poor ventilation in summer favor the disease.The disease is serious in fields affected by scale insects.


♦[Control Method] 

1. Gardening:  When transplanting,choose loose humus with good water retention and ventilation,and use it after disinfection in high temperature.Change watering time to the morning,and avoid overhead irrigation as much as possible and water them slowly from the edge of the pot.Do not let water get into central leaves and keep the room well-ventilated.

2. Using CALIBUR®: In the early stage of the disease, it is recommended to spray CALIBUR® ( diluted to 300-500 times) and continuously spray twice in a row with an interval of 7-10 days.
